I see you at lunch and wave to you as I pass by, you wave back smiling. We’re just friends, nothing more, I’m happy with that. I wish you were too, I wish you didn’t pull me aside after school that day and tell me you loved me, I wish you didn’t call me up every night just to say the same thing. I never know what to say back, “I love you too’, no I couldn’t, I can’t lie, especially not to you, cause that’s what it would be, a lie to say those words. I don’t love you the same as you love me. Every time you smile that smile at me, every time I see your eyes flash over to me, every time you make those cryptic little remarks, my heart breaks, you’re my friend and I hate the thought of hurting you like I am, you know the truth, you know I don’t feel that way about you. You tell me not to worry, and I try not to, but I can’t help think about how every little thing I do effects you. It must hurt, I tell you that I’m sorry over and over again, but it doesn’t matter how sorry I am, I will keep on hurting you if it goes on like this. I feel like screaming and running from this nightmare, I don’t know how or when its going to end, is there nothing I can do? However it ends I hope its quick and painless for you, no matter how much it hurts me. I don’t want to lose you as a friend, but I know I can’t give you what you want, what you need. I’m sorry for hurting you, I’m sorry for everything I’ve done to lead you on. I swear I never mean too. I wish we could forget that this whole thing happened; I wish we could just be friends again. I wish this could all go back to normal, back to how they used to be.
